Bare-Your-Bum Sexy Solstice Cooler

Summer Solstice in Seattle is quite famous for it’s naked-bike-riding-Summer-Solstice-Parade.  If you’ve never hear of this event, Google it.

Every year around June 21st, rain or shine, hippies old and young, bear their twig, bum and berries.  Somewhere in the mix are (but not limited to) body paint, headdresses, bicycles, wigs, masks and streamers.  Let your imagination run wild.

Since Seattle is about outdoorsy fitness and utilitarian fashion, it’s really more bare bum than sexy solstice.  None the less, cocktails are in order.

The perfect drink? The Bare-Your-Bum Solstice Cooler. I like to use the whole berry (skin, seeds, and all!) because I tell myself it’s more fruit than cocktail. Thus, it’s easier to justify drinking another, and another, and another. “I need my antioxidants!” If you’re not into the whole fruit scenario, use a strainer after pureeing the berries and continue with preparation.

Make me a drink:
In a food processor, add berries and maple syrup. In a short glass, add ice, rum, fruit mixture, club soda and lime wedges (including rind). Stir, garnish with a slice of lime and take your clothes off… It’s Solstice!
